Bullying has been a part of childhood for thousands of years and happens in any different forms. Bullying is when a person is picked on over and over again by an individual or group with more power, either in physical strength or social standing. Bullying is an issue that affects youths seriously in three essential parts Of their lives educationally, psychologically and professionally. Some children may bully others without being aware of the results that their actions may cause. Bullying reflects mainly on the victims’ lives and can lead to several disorders such as anxiety, depression, loneliness.
Often the victims also lose their opportunity to have a normal life. When young people are bullied it usually becomes so difficult for them to cope with and the bullying begins to take a toll on them. They start to get depressed and start feeling lonely, sad and unhappy. It may cause them to lose their self-confidence and leads them start to feeling guilty about themselves. They start thinking that there is something wrong within them. Bullied children live within fear and self blame, they feel weak and helpless.
Bullying can affect their personality traits and self confidence which can lead to a domino effect of problems, especially educationally. For example, if a child is bullied they start to hate going to school, which can lead to several other problems. They will be unable to study well or focus in school, will have problems with truancy or lose their opportunities to participate with others or enjoy school activities. They will gain less academic performance and low educational attainment. (Oliver & Canapé . 2003). There is a strong association between academic achievement and being bullied (woods & Wolfe ,2004).
Additionally, there is a relationship between bullying and school quality such as class-size the umber of student in the classroom, lack of library, sports facilities and if the teacher considers as a mother or father when she or he treat with children during their educational progress. (Dreaded et al. 2002). As far as psychological health is concerned, bullied children are more expose to the psychological disorders such as anxiety, depression, low self- esteem and loneliness. All these affect their reactions towards themselves and others. Children become ashamed as well as having low self-acceptance after bullying or harassment.
This will lead them to be rejected by their implies as a result Of social exclusion. All these things may cause them to have thoughts of suicide or thoughts of acting out in with aggressive behavior. The impact of bullying can carry on into a child’s adult life. For example It can affect them in terms of relationships or even when they are just looking for a job. There is no doubt that the higher educational attainment the higher earning people got. Children who experienced bullying at childhood stage resort to escape from their schools and then gain lower grades.
It may become difficult to find good job without the proper qualifications and can dead to long term unemployment in adulthood. (Abraham & Positivist 2005). The figures of earning for those who experienced bullying regularly at age 7 and 1 1 respectively were lower compared with children who are not. However, bullying affect not solely the income itself it also affects the shape and rank or position of the job. It is apparent that bullying is a significant issue that affects our lives in many ways but we have to work hard to detect bullying and by putting a stop to it before it gets out of hand.
We live in a world that is full of negativity, if we loud just encourage people to be kind, caring and respectful to each other then bullying could be eliminated all at once. However, it is always easier said than done. In the mean time it is important to take as many steps possible to reduce and eventually end bullying. Realizing when bullying is taking place is a necessary first step in finding solutions. By understanding the center and roots of the problem, we will get an idea of how to start proactively working to address bullying, including teasing, name-calling, shunning, and physical intimidation or assault.
Another thing that can be done is if you see bullying eke place or hear about it, remember that your reactions provide a context for how the kids involved will respond to and interpret the situation. Kids need to see adults being powerful and respectful in responding to problems. If parents or teachers get upset and overreact, kids are more likely to get upset and might even avoid telling adults about future problems. Staying calm, respectful, and persistent will make you more effective in talking to administrators, educators youth group leaders, or parents about their response to a bullying problem.
Not everybody reacts in a helpful way when iris approached so be prepared to persist. Positive peer relationship skills help to prevent and stop bullying. Tell your children that they have the confidence and power to walk away from any situation. Write to your county- and state-level officials telling them of the seriousness Of bullying and demand they make it a top priority in their campaigns. Although bullying is not limited to any age or demographic, it poses a significant problem for schools and parents of children. We typically think that being a child should be carefree and stress free, but for some this time can become a time of torment and anguish sometimes leading to serious actions, such as suicide.

A. 2011) Most children experience bullying at some point in their lives, about 20-40% of bullying victims actually report being lulled.
Having such a low number of victims who actually report these problems when they happen hinders the ability to prevent further bulling from happening. In middle school and high school about 70% of students experience bullying, if we had more proper education and support in anti- bullying techniques we would not have such a high number of victims, and 25% of students who encourage bullying would not be doing so. Recently studies have shown that about 23% of 9th graders have carried a weapon to school for protection against bullying (Noel) In high school 27% of students re bullied because of their refusal to engage in common sexual practices.
With having 7-12% of bullies being habitual and posing a serious threat to other students, and unless something is done, the 5-15% of students that are constantly bullied will increase. Bullying is a detrimental situation that is wreaking havoc on schools grounds across the country. Studies have concluded with several new bullying statistics to reinforce the point that the increase in verbal, physical, and mental is creating more harm than good. The third leading cause of death among ages 10 – 24 is suicide. Male youth are 5 times more likely to commit suicide than those of the opposite gender.
